Ashley's Story

During our first meeting, I knew Ashley was a fighter; she demonstrated resilience, perseverance, and strength. I realized I was in the presence of a She Warrior. Ashley owns a landscaping business with her partner and cares for her children. Unfortunately, one of her children battles congenital heart disease every single day. What struck me about Ashley during the hours spent tattooing her was that despite the numerous challenges her family faces daily, they consistently rise with smiles on their faces. They embrace joy and tackle each day with remarkable happiness. (Naomi)

Quote (from She Warrior submission) by Ashley: “I thought I had gone through some S**** in my life before, with childhood sexual assaults and abuse and childhood trauma, as we all share a bit of…but the true warriors I know are my kids! One in particular is my youngest tiny human… He was born with a congenital heart disease with many defects and fights for his life every day, one of the strongest ones I know!!! If he can do it every day if he can keep pushing, go through open heart surgeries and all, why can’t we?!

The white-tailed kite shares a profound bond with the familiar swallow-tailed kite. These raptors not only soar gracefully through the skies, but they also embody a natural elegance and a fierce spirit. Choosing this predatory bird for Ashley felt like an instinctive decision, as it mirrors the strength and tenacity she carries within her.
